KDP Keyword Duel

Compare two keywords' page-one results side by side — the median review count (how high the page-one review wall stands), weak-competitor share, buyer and ad signals. KDP gives you seven backend keyword slots: compare first, then commit them.

Frequently asked questions

What data does the duel compare?

Real page-one scans of each keyword: the review wall (the median review count of the books holding page one), the weak-competitor share (page-one titles holding under 100 reviews), plus buyer and ad signals visible in the lineup. No estimated search volumes anywhere — Amazon doesn't publish them, so competition is read from who actually holds page one.

Is the sample comparison free? Can I run my own keywords?

The full sample comparison on this page is free, no account needed. Running your own two keywords happens in the signed-in KDP workspace, where each side of the duel is a separate keyword competition lookup and is billed as such — two lookups, two charges, no bundle.

How should I use the result?

KDP gives you seven backend keyword slots, and the duel answers which of two words deserves one first: the word whose page one is easier to enter — a lower review wall, a higher weak-competitor share — is the better bet. Run duels pairwise to rank your candidates, then feed the winners into the backend keyword stuffer in priority order.
