KDP Intelligence: Pick Your Category Before You Write

Most niche decisions fail on competition, not demand. Our KDP tools measure how defended a Kindle best-seller list already is — median review counts, weak-competitor share, and breakout books that prove newcomers still get in — so you can shortlist categories while the book is still an outline.

How we think about KDP research

Amazon doesn't publish search volume for book keywords, so every volume number on the market is an estimate. We don't make estimates. Our KDP line works from what can be observed: the composition of best-seller lists and page-one search results — who ranks, how reviewed they are, what they cost, and which slots are ads.

The category snapshot behind the scanner is a periodic research snapshot, refreshed between seasons — not live tracking. For niche selection that's the right cadence: best-seller lists turn over slowly enough that a recent snapshot beats a stale dashboard.

KDP tools are one layer of Amzanalyst. The platform's core is review analysis for e-commerce sellers — the same credit balance powers both, and the pricing page has current rates.
