UPC/EAN Check Digit Calculator — Verify or Complete GTIN Barcodes

Paste UPC-A, EAN-13 or ITF-14 digits to verify the check digit, or paste the digits without one to compute it — plus UPC-E to UPC-A expansion. Standard GS1 modulo-10 algorithm, computed entirely in your browser.

GTIN input

12 digits can be a complete UPC-A or EAN-13 data without its check digit — pick the mode that matches what you pasted. 11 digits are always treated as UPC-A data.

UPC-E → UPC-A expansion

6, 7 or 8 digits (8 = with check digit). Number system must be 0 or 1.

How the math works

GTIN check digits use the GS1 modulo-10 scheme: weighting the digits from the right in a 3-1-3-1 pattern, summing, and rounding up to the next multiple of ten — the difference is the check digit. The same rule covers UPC-A (GTIN-12), EAN-13 and ITF-14; UPC-E is a compressed UPC-A that zeroes out trailing positions.

All calculation happens in your browser with local JavaScript — nothing you type is uploaded.
