I thought as it had seen better days I would go for the newer model. Despite it looking very stylish it is a pain to use and would go back to the old model in a heartbeat. My main gripe is the timer mechanism. The dial itself is quite stiff, the finger grips aren’t deep enough and are slippery so this makes turning the dial to the correct point quite difficult. On the older model, zero (the unlock point) was at the bottom of the dial. It worked clockwise from 1 to 48 hours which meant you only needed to turn it fractionally to set it to open in a couple of hours. This model has zero at the top, works clockwise 48 to 1 hour, which means you have to rotate mechanism around the entire dial to set it for the same amount of time which is totally unnecessary. The tamper proof dishes, I’m not sure what the thinking was behind these !
